Founded in 1945, Dibrugarh Hanumanbax Surajmall Kanoi College (Autonomous) is a premier institution of higher education in Assam. The college offers a diverse range of programs, including undergraduate courses in Computer Applications, Performing Arts, and Biotechnology, as well as postgraduate courses in Assamese, Anthropology, English, Life Sciences, and Mathematics. Additionally, it provides a one-year Certificate Programme in Tea and Agro Studies. The college follows syllabi from Dibrugarh University, Assam Science and Technology University, and its own autonomous framework.

In 2019, it received financial assistance from the North Eastern Council (NEC) to establish a Central Instrumentation Facility, a first among Assam’s colleges. In 2023, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accredited the college with an ‘A’ grade and a 3.03 CGPA. The college celebrated its Platinum Jubilee in 2022, marking 75 years of community service. In April 2025, it was granted Autonomous status by the UGC, a testament to its academic excellence.
