Central Instrument Facility (CIF)

Welcome to CIF DHSK College :

Central Instrument Facility (CIF), DHSK College, Dibrugarh is established in the month of March, 2021.The Department  of North East Council(NEC), Shillong has provided facilities of sophisticated analytical instruments to researchers through its Central Instrumentation Facility(CIF) Scheme so that the non-availability of these instruments in their institutes may not come in the way of scientists in pursuing R&D activities requiring such facilities and they are able to keep pace with developments taking place globally. It has been created with an objective of providing a central facility of latest and advanced Analytical Instruments for research in the application areas of physical, chemical, biological, allied and interdisciplinary applications in research to all those are deprived of such facilities including academic research institutes, private companies /Industries.

About DHSK College:

Dibrugarh Hanumanbax Surajmall Kanoi College is a government college located in Dibrugarh, Assam, India. It was established on 15 June 1945 in Dibrugarh, Assam. The College is affiliated with Dibrugarh University; its Higher Secondary Course is recognised by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council. The main aim of the establishment of the college is to pay special attention to the improvement of the social and economic conditions and welfare of the people of the upper Assam and its nearby areas, and in particular their intellectual, academic and cultural advancement.

Objectives of the CIFs:

  • to carry out analysis of samples received from the scientists/institutes;
  • to provide facilities of sophisticated analytical instruments to scientists and other users from academic institutes, R&D laboratories and industries to enable them to carry out measurements for R&D work;
  • to acquire and develop capability for under graduate, Post graduate students, Research Scholars and faculties of different disciplines. 
  • to organize short term courses/workshops on the use and application of various instruments and analytical techniques;
  • to train technicians for maintenance and operation preventive maintenance and repair of sophisticated instruments.
  • to undertake design and development of instruments/accessories of existing instruments.

Users of the Facilities:

  • The facilities provided by the CIFs may be utilized by any user/organization on payment of nominal charges. Guidelines: Following are the guidelines to be followed by the intending users.

Elligibility:

Internal Users:

Internal user (DHSK College user) can download Job order forms from CIF web page for any facility. Details regarding experimental requirements should be given in the requisition form. During experiments the user’s presence is compulsory, prior appointment for analysis/studying samples should be sought.

External Users:

University/College/others:

Users may visit in-person or send their samples along with a requisition form duly signed by the Head of Institute/Guide addressing to the In-charge, CIF, DHSK College, Dibrugarh. As per the guidelines, users must agree to acknowledge CIF, DHSK College, in his/her publications and thesis if the CIF Instrument generated results are incorporated/used in them. Immediately after publication, we request the users to send us the publications reference (Journal name/volume number/name of authors/date of issue of the publication ete) to CIF. A list of publications resulting from use of CIF, DHSK College, Dibrugarh will be presented in the CIF webpage.

Important notes 

  • The analytical data/spectra are provided only for research/development purpose. These cannot be used as certificates in legal disputes.
  • Please send the samples in good quantity. Samples are not recovered, unless a special request is made. For this extra charge has to be made.
  • Unstable/ Radioactive/Toxic and explosive compounds are not accepted for analysis.
  • Services are rendered to only those users who regularly give us feed-back about the use of the result, e.g. thesis, patent, publications etc.
  • Interpretation of the spectra/results is not undertaken normally
  • Samples which are not collected back within one month will be disposed of immediately without any further notification.
  • Once the sample analysis is completed, the results will be dispatched by E-mail.
  • Please ensure the status of the equipment (operational/out-of-order) before depositing money for sample analysis by contacting the in-charge over phone.
  • Once the operational status of the equipment is confirmed, deposit the money to SBI A/C  No. 31919093051 of SBI, Gabharupathar Branch, IFSC: SBIN00089089 as per charges/rates for analysis provided on the webpage. 
  • User need to transfer money to SBI A/C No. 31919093051 of SBI, Gabharupathar Branch IFSC:SBIN00089089, DHSK College, Dibrugarh by e-banking only. Payment through cash/draft is not acceptable.
  • As per Government regulations a 18% GST will be levied for services provided.
  • Send the sample, money transfer copy and requisition form (complete filled with relevant information) to “The In-charge, CIF, DHSK College, Dibrugarh-786001, Assam”.
