Three (03) months certificate course on NUMERICAL ABILITY.

The course will be imparted to BCA students of 4th semester.

Course fee: Rs.2,000/-

Classes will be held 3 days in a week. Total number of classes is 36 days of one hour duration. For every topic, 10 numbers of questions will be given as assignment.

After completion of the course, certificate will be given to students having 90% attendance and submission of assignments.

A faculty will be assigned to conduct the course and Vice-Principal cum coordinator of BCA will monitor the successful implementation of the course.

Intranet etc. Uses and benefits of Network, Server-client based network

Concept of Server, client, node, segment, backbone, host etc. Analog and Digital transmission, Network Interface Card, Crimping tools and Colour standards for Straight crimping and Cross crimping Functions of NIC, Repeaters, Hub, Switches, Routers, Bridges, Router etc.

Unit 3. Transmission Media and Topologies: (TH&D*) 2hrs                              10 Marks

Media types: STP cable, UTP cable, Coaxial cable, Fibre cable, Base band and Broadband transmission, Cables and Connectors, Physical and logical topologies, Bus, Star, Ring and Mesh topologies.

Unit 4. Protocols and Services: (TH&D*) 2hrs                                                      10 Marks

HTTP, FTP and other Different types of protocols, OSI Model, Media Access Method, DNS services, DHCP services, WINS services and RAS services, Web services, Proxy Services etc.

Unit 5. TCP/IP and Sub-nettings: (TH&D*) 2hrs                                     10 Marks

Introduction about TCP/IP and Sub-nettings, configuring IP address and subnettings with different Routers and Network, TCP/IP Errors and Solutions

Unit 5. WWW or Internet: (TH&D*) 4hrs                                    10 MarksEvolution, Protocols, Interface Concepts, Internet Vs Intranet, Growth of Internet, ISP, Connectivity –Dial-up, Leased line, VSAT etc. URLs, Domain names, Portals, Application-Mail. Changing levels, changing curves, colour balance, changing brightness and contrast, changing hue saturation and brightness, changing a grayscale image to a coloured image. Histogram, gradient map, desaturate, invert, colour replace, selective colour, equalize, threshold, channel mixer, posterize, changing background using layer composting

About the type layer, creating vertical and horizontal types, Point and paragraph text creation, using horizontal and vertical type mask tools, using character palette for text editing, choosing a font, changing the type colour, choosing a type size, specifying kerning and tracking, using fractional character widths, specifying baseline shift, applying underline and strikethrough, Text alignment and justification, specifying anti-aliasing, creating text warp, rasterizing type, converting type to shapes adding effect to text.

Creating and opening publication, using the toolbox, working with palettes, text and graphics, starting a publication from the template, saving and closing the publication, positioning ruler guides, typing text, formatting, rotating and moving of text block and graphics, placing text file, setting tab.

Unit 2. Indentation, Paging: Lecture/Hours: (TH&D) * 6 hrs                                                20 Marks

Indents, leaders copying graphics between publication, positioning and resizing the logo, constructing a publication, setting up pages, changing documents setup, using master pages, choosing a measurement system and setting up rulers, adjusting layout, numbering pages, rearranging pages, creating running headers & footers, importing text, threading text blocks.
