“Develop a passion for learning, if you do, you will never cease to grow”
-Anthony, J D Angelo
As our world is passing through an unexpected crisis situation and our education system is being one of the victims of the situation, I wish our students never stop learning and develop their passion in whatever field they wish to and we are there to support them in developing their passion for learning. In an institution with a glorious past and aspiring for a great future, we believe in creating healthy minds that would be an asset for the future of the nation.
As a proud member of a prestigious institution of Assam, I welcome you all to our college and I believe that through this website you will gain some useful information about our institution, which has already completed 76 years of its glorious existence and still growing towards more and more excellence inspiring students from far-flung areas to join us in their pursuit of higher education. Since its inception, the college has been undergoing a relentless process of growth and today is a premier institute of higher learning of the region.
The DHSK College, originally named as Dibrugarh College the way back in 15th June, 1945, later on the college renamed as Dibrugarh Hanumanbax Surajmall Kanoi College on 25th July 1950 after the name of the donor Hanumanbax Kanoi family. It is a pleasure to remember even today that Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, the then Vice-President of India inaugurated the College building in 1958. Later at the initiative of Ashwini Charan Choudhury (founder Secretary), Dr. L. P. Dutta (founder Vice-Principal) and Dr. Jogiraj Basu (founder Principal), Hanumanbax Kanoi helped in the establishment of Dibrugarh University. The nucleus of the two nearby Colleges namely DHSK Commerce College and MDK Girls’ College had also their origin in this College itself.
Keeping forward the long and glorious history, the college is striving hard to reach the expectations of the students and the society at large by continuously developing its infrastructure to meet the demands of today’s technology-based education system. The college is successfully developing its relations through networking with various organizations at national and international level and thereby expanding its academic activities and offering the students an international exposure.
Maintaining a clean and green environment has always been a part of our daily life. The ‘Green Club’ of Kanoi College is an inspiration for the students to love and nurture the nature. The students learn to preserve and maintain the environment for them and future generation also. The college believes in creating confidence and self-dependent manpower at whom the country will be proud at. I am concluding with a quote –
“The main hope of a nation lies in the proper education of its youth”
-Erasmus
